In the 1990s, the company acquired several industry companies like Winterthur Group, Swiss American Securities, Swiss Volksbank, and Bank Leu. During the 1900s, the institution became more and more involved in retail banking. Its first main activity was issuing loans for the railway industry. The company was founded by Alfred Escher in 1856 under the name Swiss Credit Institution. Credit Suisse Bank of Switzerland is an international financial company based in Zurich, Switzerland, and is revered as one of the most trusted bullion brands in the world.
